Like you I was thinking of doing another job and finish my phd on the side, although getting employment is somehow difficult in my case, or alternatively ask for a break of a few months. I don’t know how to bring this up to my advisor, who is waiting for my paper drafts for quite some time already, and who personally is a very efficient person when it comes to work.

I have a timesheet of all the hours i spent on core tasks over the past 3 years and 10 months of my PhD (i’m about to submit). I too have been doing a lot of extracurricular professional development activities (mainly conferences and workshops), and without a scholarship i have had to take chunks of time out to do consulting work to pay the rent.

What do you say about it? M I eligible for PhD or not? I can finish 2-3 mini projects within 3-4 months, so can I add these projects in current CV which I’m going to join in Jan or Feb 2011? Pretty much everyone who goes through a PhD will experience some kind of stress, but this isn't always a bad thing.
